In the Bioprocess Application group, we are working with new or emerging technologies in the field of downstream processing of biopharmaceuticals. The main focus is on chromatographic separations, especially of monoclonal antibodies. JSR Life Sciences’ key products in this market are the Protein A resins Amsphere™ A3 and Amsphere™ A+.

Besides onsite and off-site technical support for customers, we are also generating and presenting application data for marketing purposes.

We are currently looking for a chromatography application engineer. The responsibilities will consist of the following:

• Conduct customer visits with the sales team, to provide in-depth technical expertise, hands-on support and maintaining a good customer relationship.
• Work out experimental set-ups together with the sales and tech support (application) teams.
• Run the experiments on chromatography equipment (mainly AKTA, HPLC).
• Carry out the analytical tests for the performed application experiments.
• Analyze and interpret results.
• Write experimental reports on a regular basis. Present results to the local team in Leuven, customers and at conferences.

• Degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, bio-engineering, chemistry or equivalent by experience.
• Experience in chromatography (process development or manufacturing) or in a technical support/sales role with a vendor is greatly valued. Column packing experience is a plus.
• Fluent in English, both speaking and writing. Knowledge of Dutch, German or French is a plus.
• Good work ethics, accurate and result-oriented with well-developed troubleshooting skills. 
• Good collaborator and strong communication skills.
• Commercial and customer-friendly attitude, with the ability to maintain and expand a professional network.
• Willing to travel (up to 15 % of the time).
